Effective management is essential if a company aims to provide a consistently high level of performance over the long term. This management needs to be efficient management as competitors will soon embarrass companies whose management set-up is needlessly top heavy.
T Squared is proud of its management set-up as it has proven to be effective over the period that we have been in business with overhead levels which are market leading in their frugality. What are the factors that contribute to this?
Managers are also Owners
All of the shareholders of T Squared work for T Squared and being a shareholder provides the highest possible levels of motivation and customer focus. If you as a client are dealing with T Squared on a Cleanroom, Laboratory or any other type of project you will almost certainly be dealing with an engineer with shares in T Squared.
"Turnkey Contracts"
Whether it is Cleanrooms, Laboratories or simply office fit-outs there is a requirement for a single contractor to deliver the end product in its totality through a single order from the client. Having a single source of responsibility makes life easier for the client as there can be no situation of X blaming Y and vice versa with the client left to sort out the mess.
The "turnkey" route can only work if the contractor has management systems in place to control the different types of trades working on the site at any time. The starting point for this is for T Squared to establish an approved list of sub-contractors who compete against each other for each discipline so that we can maintain our competitive edge. These sub-contractors are vetted on H & S, past experience, flexibility of operation and most importantly the general attitude of the management teams.
Planning and programming come next with T Squared being particularly careful to allow sufficient time to plan properly with a detailed procurement schedule that allows for better buying rather than panic buying. Microsoft Project programmes are used and agreed with the clients before sitework is started.
Having planned and programmed properly the task left to the T Squared project managers is to deliver the works on time and to budget. This is done by weekly reviews and a change control system that deals with changes as they happen. The project managers and the sub-contractor teams are instilled with the attitude that getting finished on time, with safety and quality paramount is the minimum expectation.
