University of Glasgow (SRDC Materials Cleanroom)

The University of Glasgow is a major research-led university operating in an international context, with a broad expertise in subjects as varied as arts, sciences, social sciences and medicine.

Background to the project

The Institute for Gravitational Research at the University of Glasgow required a specialised facility for use in gravitational wave searches, to support their research.

Scope of the project

T-SQUARED were commissioned to provide a complete turnkey package for the design and build of a Class 7 Clean room within an existing laboratory area. The scope of work included:

• Design and build of a highly serviced clean room with ‘Ultra Pure’ water and compressed air, laminar flow cabinet, and laser area
• Replacement of the complete external glazed wall, to be completed within tight security conditions

Timescales

The project was completed within a challenging project timescale to ensure all building works were restricted to university holiday periods.
