When R22 gas replacement first kicked off there was no alternative but to scrap the pipework systems as the contaminated oil left behind could not be cleaned up. New technology with special dryers now allows this contaminated oil to be cleaned up effectively so that old pipework systems can be reused with the new ozone friendly range of refrigerant gasses.
